About Julee Laurent
Described by NPR Sound Opinions and Chicago Sun Times Rock Critic Jim DeRogatis as a rollicking, optimistic and relentlessly tuneful indie band, Julee Laurent formed the Michigan City Vandals (MCV) after moving to Michigan from Nashville where she fronted the band Venus Envy and was a music writer for ATR (All the Rage Magazine) and lifestyle writer for InReview. MCV has placed songs on shows for HBO, The Oxygen Network, Cinema Concepts and Cable News Outlets. Julee is the primary songwriter for MCV and currently collaborates with musicians around the country writing songs in all genres. Her band has toured college campuses, major Midwest cities, US music festivals and opened for bands including Bowling for Soup, Hank III, Mute Math and the Avett Brothers. Julee has also published two children's books and is releasing her memoir in summer of 2022 about working at the original world famous Spago in Los Angeles. Julee is currently recording a new solo album set for release in June of 2022.
